Carl G. Archer, CELA
Carl is the firm's managing attorney. He practices exclusively in the areas of Medicaid applications and litigation, veterans pension applications, guardianships, estate planning and administration, and related litigation. He is recognized as a Certified Elder Law Attorney by the ABA-accredited National Elder Law Foundation, and has been recognized continuously in New Jersey Super Lawyers magazine since 2012. Carl was named in 2016 as a “New Leader of the Bar” by the New Jersey Law Journal, an honor given to only 47 attorneys that year.
Carl is a graduate of Rutgers University and Rutgers School of Law-Camden, and early in his career completed a judicial clerkship in Somerset County. Carl has advocated for caregivers and their families throughout New Jersey and New York. He finds time for pro bono work through Legal Services of New Jersey to low-income caregivers in need. For example, he served as counsel in M.S. v. Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services, resulting after three years of litigation, two trips to the Office of Administrative Law, and a win in the New Jersey Appellate Division, in Medicaid approval for a motorized wheelchair for a hemiplegic nursing home resident. Carl was also one of three public appointees by the Governor to the New Jersey Task Force on Abuse Against the Elderly and Disabled.
Carl currently serves as the Chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association's Elder and Disability Law Section, has been a past President of the New Jersey chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and serves as Treasurer to Jersey Cares, an organization that increases civic engagement by organizing and staffing volunteer projects in urban areas throughout New Jersey. Carl also serves on the board of New Jersey Advocates for Aging Well.
